How to Create a Composition

Compositions stitch a group of related titles into a single video creating additional content. Compositions are very flexible and can be created around anything including favorite characters, actors, series, franchises, and genres. 

 

This allows users to assemble multiple assets into Compositions of "best of" characters, bloopers and gag reels, trailers, teasers, and more. Any of the following types of assets that can be included:

  • Advertisement
  • Alternate Scene
  • Audition
  • Clip
  • Deleted Scene 
  • EPK
  • Episode
  • Extended Preview
  • Feature
  • Featurette
  • Gag Reel
  • Interstitial
  • Logo
  • Music Video
  • Preview
  • Promo
  • Screen Test 
  • Short Film
  • TV Spot
  • Teaser
  • Trailer
  • Worlds Item

 

Follow these steps below to build a Composition:

Please note, these instructions assume that the user has also created the titles that exist within the composition. For example, if the composition is a Gag Reel (or Bloopers), the user should also create the Titles that represent clips to associate to the Gag Reel.

Creating the Composition Title

First, the user must create the title that will contain the composition items. To create a composition, the user must first navigate to the Create Title menu.

Upon clicking "Create Title", the user will notice that the default category will be a "Feature" on "Feature" type. The user should remove this by clicking the gray x button in the category field.

After clicking the x and clearing the category field, the user must select a new category "Composite."

After selecting the category as Composition, the user must then select from the following Types:

  • Advertisement (Composition)
  • Alternate Scene (Composition)
  • Audition (Composition)
  • Clip (Composition)
  • Deleted Scene (Composition)
  • EPK (Composition)
  • Episode (Composition)
  • Extended Preview (Composition)
  • Feature (Composition)
  • Featurette (Composition)
  • Gag Reel (Composition)
  • Interstitial (Composition)
  • Logo (Composition)
  • Music Video (Composition)
  • Preview (Composition)
  • Promo (Composition)
  • Screen Test (Composition)
  • Short Film (Composition)
  • TV Spot (Composition)
  • Teaser (Composition)
  • Trailer (Composition)

For the purposes of this example, we will utilize "Gag Reel (Composition)."

After selecting the correct Type; the user must, atleast, provide the required metadata before submission. Additional information will help diversify and improve data quality when attempting to utilize it later.

Upon completing data entry, the user must click "Finish" in the lower right. If successful, the user will receive a notification in the user interface.

 

Associating Titles as Items In the Composition

After creating a title, navigate to the Title's page and navigate to the "Relationship" tab of the metadata of the desired title.

Next click on "+ Add New" under *Composition Items. For the purposes of this demonstration, Gag Reel (Composition) items.

 

Under Association Type, choose the relevant Title Type that is part of the composition.

 

Users must now select the correct title that exists under that provider that also exist as the Title Type selected: In this example, an Ancillary-Clip called "Gag Reel Clip"

Once selected, the user must enter the position of the items, in the order intended to be displayed in content and the applicable territory it serves.

 

Once complete, click Save in the lower right.

 

The page will refresh with the addition of the items. Content ID and Vendor ID will populate if the titles were provided that information on their title pages. The user may modify those fields at any time by navigating to them through search or by clicking on their titles in the composition items list.
