Avails Types and Subtypes

  • Updated

When creating avails, it's important to understand the distinctions between different types and subtypes.

Avails exist under two avail offer types:

  • EST (Electronic Sell Thru) - allows users to purchase titles.
    • ESTs do not have any subtypes.
  • VOD (Video on Demand) - allows users to rent titles.
    • VODs have 6 sub-types:
      • TVOD (Transactional Video on Demand) - titles are rented on a store.
      • AVOD (Advertisement Video on Demand) - titles include ads.
      • FVOD (Free Video on Demand) - titles are free.
      • ACTVOD (Account Based Video on Demand) - users need an account with retailer to watch titles.
      • SVOD (Subscription Based Video on Demand) - users need a subscription with retailer to watch titles.
      • CSVOD (Coming Soon Video on Demand) - previews for titles coming soon to a store.

NOTE:  For certain platforms, CSVOD is overwritten by all other subtypes. So if a title is live for CSVOD and then an SVOD offer goes live, the CSVOD offer will come off the store. This override process frequently occurs for retailers who use the CVSOD subtype.
