Titles, versions, and localizations all have metadata that is editable by users. This article will cover the various ways to edit metadata of a title.
This article begins on a title's page in PDX, on the second tab labelled "Metadata." Note that this main metadata tab is for the English version of media.
Users will navigate various levels of metadata, listed under the image here:
The top level hierarchy in features is called "Feature." In television media, the top level is the "Series" level. One thing to note of importance at the top level is that editing of cast and crew should be done here as it is the only element of metadata which is inheritable by lower levels.
Editing Metadata
All other elements of metadata are not inheritable, and must be edited at various levels, either as:
- Text Boxes - where users type in data (such as the "Display Name" field), or
- Menus of available choices - where options will appear when a user clicks in a box, such as with "Rating System"
- Check Boxes - indicating yes or no for items such as "cc available" or "is original"
Users also have the ability to populate metadata via a spreadsheet upload. For more information on how to upload metadata, click here.
While the left column of metadata contains text boxes and drop down menus, there are a few special things to note in the right column.
Genres
A user can add as many genres to a title as desired.
Genres can be deleted with the "X", or reordered with the dots on the right.
Ratings
Ratings are territory specific, so this rating info is simply for this English version.
Ratings for other localizations will be edited in the localization tab, covered below here.
Editing Cast and Crew
The dots on the far left are for changing the order of names. Click here and drag to move this listing.
The "Credit Type" text box has a list of roles that can be used for cast and crew.
If a user clicks the image icon, the uploaded image for the actor will load. Note this image is only viewable on company property.
Clicking on the folder icon there next to the image icon brings up this window to load a new photo:
Also, the user can edit actor catalog information. Note the dots to move the catalog info, and the "x" on the far right to delete the entry.
On the far right is an "x" to delete the entry entirely.
External ID's
Users have the ability to add any external ID into PDX. This allows PDX to become a one stop shop for all ID's associated to a title.
To add or edit external ID's, a user will click the blue line at the bottom of each section to add a new row to edit, as highlighted below:
Once a user clicks "External Ids," a new row will appear where they can add new external ID info.
Platform Specific Fields
There is an option to add platform specific fields below other info , where the user can provide the information that needs to be displayed on the movie. Click on the arrow on right corner of the field name to expand all the fields and add details.
Saving
Users should be sure to hit the blue save button at the bottom to save all changes.
