This article will cover how to create a new version of a season. PDX defines a “new” or “different version” as a new and unique cut or edit of a season. Examples of different versions might include:
- a Director's Cut,
- a territory specific version,
- or a Censored version.
When the edit is the same, but the language is different, a user can create different metadata instances of the same version. For more information about different versions and their hierarchy, click here.
Creating a new version
The existing version and hierarchy of a season is displayed underneath the picture to the left on the metadata tab. In the below example, we can see that this season has an International Season version.
To create a new version, please make sure you are currently on the main “Season” title page. Then in the right action menu, pick “Add Version.” This option will only appear on the main season option.
Users will see a pop-up menu appear where they will be prompted to enter the new season version's metadata.
The fields with a red star (*) are required in order to create a new season.
- Version - The type of content (2D, 3D, Theatrical, etc.)
- Title - The name of the season version being added.
- Metadata Language - Select a Language from the drop-down menu that the Metadata will be in.
- Short Synopsis - Provide a Short sentence explaining the plot or premise of the season version.
- Long Synopsis - Provide a Short paragraph explaining the plot or premise of the season version in more detail.
Once filled out, click the blue “Add” button in the right-hand corner of the pop-up to create. The pop-up menu should close, and the user will be redirected to the new season version title page.
Once a season version has been created, users will need to create episodes. Additional information can be found here.
