Needs Mastering

  • Updated

In this article, we'll be going over the Needs Mastering status page in PDX under Asset Ingest. We'll also provide information on all fields and what they can be used for.

From the Asset Ingest page, users can easily view the status of all PDX assets that are pending mastering, and view any notes regarding the progress.

The information on the Needs Mastering page is divided by provider and type of asset.

On the left of the page is the list of providers with assets pending title. For the purpose of this example, we have filtered the list of providers to Premiere.

To the right of those providers are the number of assets pending title in each of eight categories.

  • All Types - All Assets for that provider
  • Video - Video Assets
  • Audio - Audio Assets
  • CC/Sub - Close Captions and Subtitles, but also includes Forced Narratives and SDH Assets
  • Image - All title artwork assets
  • Doc - Documents associated with open orders
  • QC Report - Reports provided when checking assets for quality control
  • Other/Unknown - Assets that don't fall in the above categories

Clicking on any number from this table, including in the bolded total section, will load all corresponding assets at the bottom of the page.

From the list of assets that appear, one can choose to change several at a time by clicking the check mark icons on the left. When active, they appear blue.

Next to that is the little paper icon the user can click to check or leave notes.

Under asset type, one can see the file name in blue. Clicking the filename will bring up the Asset Details window, where one can view and edit all metadata for this asset. For a more detailed overview of the Asset Details window, view the needs metadata assets by provider (article or section).

For title, one will either find the title, or a blue “Select Title” button. If the title has already been selected, clicking on the blue text will redirect to the titles' metadata page. For more information on the Metadata page, please follow the provided link.

If not, then hovering over the cursor over the blue Select Title button will direct user to send asset to Needs Title to be able to edit.

Clicking on the little circle icon under Triage allows one to send selected file(s) to Client Services, when we can't take an asset for whatever reason (e.g., Asset corrupted, can't determine asset type, does not meet spec etc.)

Once clicked, it will bring another pop up menu. There one can choose from the drop-down menu why the asset is being triaged and a space for a note for a more detailed explanation.

Next is the Action column. Clicking the Select Action field allows the user to send selected files to Delete, Metadata, or title.

Slightly above these fields to the Right of the Screen are three gray buttons.

Clicking on the one with the magnifying glass icon allows the user to type in and search keywords to more easily filter through the search results.

The arrow point up icon will turn blue when active, and will only be active after changes have been made to one or more of the assets on the list. Clicking it will upload and make active the changes made in PDX.

The last icon is the CSV Report button. Clicking on it allows the user to download a report with all information on the asset by provider page.

Please note: When one or more assets are marked with the blue checkmark, a fourth gray icon appears. The trash can icon will delete assets selected when clicked.
