Navigating Title Metadata

  • Updated

Title pages are available to provide all available data in PDX around a title in one location. The second tab on the title page is the metadata page. This article will go over its different sections and functionalities.

Click any of the links below to view the appropriate metadata section.

The metadata tab defaults to covering English metadata. For localization for other languages, territories, and platform-specific metadata, head to the localization section of this page here.

The next thing to note is the hierarchy of the metadata pages. This will be different from film and television media.

Film Hierarchy

The hierarchy of films in PDX from top to bottom is as follows:

  • Feature
  • Versions
  • Trailers
  • Bonus Material

The hierarchy of the metadata page for films starts with the top-level Feature.

This feature level is auto populated with metadata from the first version (either original or theatrical) that a user creates the title with.

Metadata is not inherited by subsequent versions of a title, except cast and crew. This means that a user will want to be sure to enter cast and crew information on the top level feature version, so that it can be inherited by the various versions. It also means that any metadata changes will need to be made directly to each version.

The top of the metadata page includes the most commonly used/edited metadata fields, as pictured below. Definitions of the metadata terms/fields is covered in this article here, and information about editing metadata is covered here.

Further down the page is the section where users can edit cast and crew. This is ideal for editing at the general feature level, so subsequent versions can inherit this data.

For information on editing cast and crew, check out the article on editing metadata here.

Further down the page are less commonly edited metadata fields. Be sure to click the blue “Save” button at the very bottom of the page to save any changes made to metadata.

The next section in the Film hierarchy is the versions.

The metadata structure here is the same as in the Feature version, except for the cast and crew, which is not visible on a version level. Hovering over the type will also display a brief information window to provide more context

Television Hierarchy

The hierarchy of television media from top to bottom is as follows:

  • Series
  • Seasons
  • Episodes
  • Ancillary

The Series Level

At the series level, users will enter metadata for television series as a whole. Editing metadata will be covered in this article here. The only portion of this which is inheritable by lower levels is cast and crew, so be sure to enter that data here.

The Season Level

Here, a user will edit metadata for each season. The only inheritable information from the series level is cast and crew. Editing metadata will be covered here

The Episode Level

Users will enter metadata for each individual episode here on the episode pages.

The Ancillary Level

Finally, in the metadata hierarchy for television media is Ancillary.

The Ancillary level consists of the following types:

  • Promo
  • Trailers
  • Bonus
  • Spot
  • Clip
  • Short Film
  • Featurette
  • Teaser
  • TV Spot
  • Card
  • Bumper
  • Recap
  • Preview
  • NextOn

Users will enter metadata for each individual asset on its own dedicated page. For more information on navigating to Ancillary Titles, click here. For more information on how to associate ancillary titles to other titles

Each of these have actions covered in its own article. Click the following links to learn how to :
